MTR Gaming Group, Inc. today announced that it has received final approval from the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board to add table gaming at its Presque Isle Downs & Casino facility in Erie, Pennsylvania. Presque Isle Downs & Casino has installed 48 traditional table games, including blackjack, craps and roulette tables, and will officially commence table gaming tomorrow at 10:00 AM Eastern.

Presque Isle Downs & Casino in Summit Township is getting ready to put about 500 more people on its payroll as it prepares to add 48 table games to a mix of 2,000 slot machines, thoroughbred horse racing, off-track betting, restaurants and live entertainment.
To put those numbers in perspective, consider that the highly publicized juice-processing plant for the city of Erie's east side promised up to 400 jobs about five years ago. And, as you know, that plant was never built, and that promise was never kept....read the rest
Workers at Presque Isle Downs & Casino are having their hours cut because casino business has slowed during the winter season.
About 200 of the casino's 800 employees are having their hours cut. Full-time employees are now working just four days a week, and part-timers have had about eight hours cut from their 25-hour work week.

A court decision in favor of a company building a thoroughbred race track and casino near Erie has raised the firm's hopes that slot-machine gambling may begin there by the end of February.
MTR Gaming Group Inc.'s request to open the Presque Isle Downs casino is still on hold, however, until the Gaming Control Board has sufficient membership to conduct votes.
"Our belief is everything is done from the Presque Isle end," casino spokesman John Brabender said Monday. "We could probably open tomorrow if somebody gave us the green light."...read the rest
